Jadon Sancho Dropped from Manchester United’s First team

Jadon Sancho will now train separately from the rest of Manchester United’s squad after his recent outburst with manager Erik ten Hag. The dispute began when Ten Hag omitted Sancho from the lineup for a crucial match against Arsenal, a game the Red Devils lost 3-1 just before the international break. The manager cited Sancho’s performance in training as the reason for his exclusion.

In response to Ten Hag’s comments, the 23-year-old Sancho took to social media to express his frustration, claiming that he had been unfairly made a “scapegoat” and alleging that the manager’s words were “untrue.” He has since deleted the post.

Manchester United issued a statement in which they acknowledged the situation as a “squad discipline issue” that they intend to address. During this period, Sancho will undergo a “personal training programme” separate from the first team.

Ten Hag’s explanation for omitting Sancho from the Arsenal match was clear: “Jadon, based on his performances in training, was not selected. At Manchester United, players are expected to maintain a high level of performance every day, and we make choices accordingly, especially in the forward positions. Thus, he was not selected for this game.”

Sancho, however, defended himself, urging people not to “believe everything they read.” He asserted that he had conducted himself well in training throughout the week and hinted at undisclosed reasons behind the matter, emphasizing that he had been unfairly labeled a scapegoat for an extended period.

The recent saga has cast doubts on Jadon Sancho’s future at Old Trafford, especially considering his underwhelming performance since his high-profile £73 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021. To date, he has scored just 12 goals in 82 appearances for the Red Devils and was recently linked to a potential move to Saudi Arabia before the transfer deadline.

Manchester United will be welcoming high flying Brighton to Old Trafford tomorrow as they look to return to winning ways and give their disappointed fans some hope,
